Marching Band

All band students are enrolled in the Willard High School Marching Band known throughout the Midwest as “The Cutting Edge.”  As the nickname (says) the marching band is known for being innovative and daring in its approach to field productions.  Selecting music primarily from the Classical idiom “The Cutting Edge” utilizes all aspects of the marching band equally.  The hornline, drumline, and colorguard units are all very important to the success of this ensemble.
The marching band rehearses in separate class periods during two different hours of the school day.  The brass/woodwind and colorguard rehearse during first period with the drumline meeting during third hour.  The students also rehearse 4-5 days each week at 6:30 am to put the production together.
The marching band performs at all home football games (5 total) and 4-5 marching festivals scheduled from the last week of September through the first Saturday of November.  The group also participates in the Willard 4th of July Celebration held during the summer band camp as well as the Annual Springfield Christmas Parade.

During the Spring Semester the marching band is divided into 3 concert bands by ability level.  Please go to the Concert Band link at the top of the page for more information.
