Ozarko thoughts n stuff

October 21, 2012

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the entire Willard Band Organization (past and present) for an incredible day at Ozarko yesterday. The band performed the BEST ALL SEASON, our parent volunteers OUTDID themselves AGAIN, and a LARGE contingent of Alumni were there.  It makes me very proud to know that a great many people are, were, and hopefully will be, proud of this band program and feel like they are ALWAYS a part of it.

For those of you who are still “confused” about finals let me explain it this way…. in the caption of Music Ensemble, simple definition: “how well a band plays”, we placed second by 1.625. That is where the majority of the 1.23 difference between first and second was in the final score.  We’ve always told the students that “outstanding awards” are great to earn because it validates various pieces of our show/program but it really always comes down to how the percentages of music, marching, etc.,  add up in the final tally.  I’m very proud of our kids, the keep on learning “new” things that we ask them too, the put up with a lot of “no, do it again…..you can do better….go practice that….where did that come from, etc”. I am also very proud of the Nixa Band. They are a class act and try to teach their kids the same way we teach ours and what is important and what is not. We have two weeks to finish this show and to improve it and that is where our focus will be.

We will be hosting the Playoff game Thursday night.  Call time will be at 6:00 pm.  DON’T TELL THE KIDDOS BUT WE HAVE A BIG SURPRISE FOR THEM.  We will have a little different look this Thursday.  THERE WILL BE NO PRACTICE ON FRIDAY. YEAH TO A 3-DAY WEEKEND! Then we hit it harder the following week for MU.

THURSDAY-The Booster Club Greenery orders a also due.  Please collect the money at the time of order and turn in the order form and money on Thursday. This is really the only “fund-raiser” the booster club does of this type and WE CAN ALWAYS USE YOUR SUPPORT.

Take care,

C
